Greek Council
Purpose
Greek
Council serves as an umbrella group for the active Greek
organizations. Greek Council meets weekly to communicate upcoming
events, organize collaborative functions, and discuss current
issues. Currently there are four active sororities and three
active fraternities.
The
international sororities include: Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma
Delta, and Alpha Phi. The international fraternities are
Delta Upsilon, Phi Delta Theta, and Zeta Psi.
The
overall goal of the Greek Council is to provide a quality
undergraduate fraternal experience for the students at The
Universities of Manitoba & Winnipeg who are members of
fraternities and sororities.
The
Greek Council is designed to unify the Greek community
through improving communication, increasing understanding,
promoting cooperation, and providing support among Greek
affiliates. It also articulates the values and contributions of
Greek affiliates to the campus and local communities, and
serves as a vehicle for communication with the administration and
the campus community regarding issues of common concern
Greek
Council also liaisons with Panhellenic Council to promote Greek
Life throughout the province of Manitoba.
Our
main mission is to:
-
Serve as a forum for discussing
current Greek issues and concerns on the campus and globally
-
Provide and avenue for
communication regarding each Greek governing body's events,
information, and concerns
-
Provide programs, events, and
community service opportunities in order to strengthen Greek
unity
